Inclusion, rankings and scores follow the criteria in the testing methodology. Affiliate commissions are disclosed, and a commercial relationship with a brand does not decide what is written about its product. A product's weaknesses are stated whatever its affiliate potential. Sourcing and accuracy
- Specifications are cited to manufacturer documentation or other credible sources.
- Prices are approximate, since they change often.
- Manufacturer-rated and independently measured figures are never blended into one number.
- Plain language is preferred, and unsupported superlatives such as “the best crossbow ever made” are avoided.
- Articles aim to answer the reader's question completely rather than pad for length.
Safety and responsible use
This site does not publish instructions intended to harm people or animals. Safety guidance covers handling, storage, maintenance and responsible use. Crossbows are dangerous if misused; read the manufacturer's manual before use.
Legal information
Legal pages are informational only and are not legal advice. Each names its jurisdiction, cites official government sources and shows a “last checked” date. Laws vary by location and change, so always verify current rules with the relevant authority before hunting or transporting a crossbow.
Update policy
Every article shows its last-updated date. Articles are revisited when specifications, pricing, availability or regulations change, with a target of reviewing everything at least once a year. Legal pages carry a separate “last checked” date because those sources move faster than product specifications.
Corrections policy
Spot an error? Email corrections@crossbowauthority.com with the page and what is wrong. Reports are investigated, confirmed errors are corrected promptly, and any material correction is noted on the article along with the date. Ratings and conclusions are never changed quietly.
