The 7-Step Process
Purchase & Assembly
We purchase crossbows at retail price and document the assembly and initial cocking experience, timing setup and noting any missing hardware or unclear instructions.
Sighting & Break-In
Every crossbow is sighted in and run through an initial break-in cycle of shots before formal testing, matching manufacturer guidance.
Chronograph Speed Testing
Bolt velocity is measured across multiple bolt weights on a chronograph, giving us real FPS data instead of relying on manufacturer claims.
Accuracy Testing
We shoot fixed-distance grouping tests at 20, 40, and 60 yards โ the same protocol every time, regardless of brand.
Build & Durability Inspection
Our engineering lead inspects limbs, cams, rail wear, and trigger mechanism safety beyond the spec sheet.
Scoring & Write-Up
Each crossbow is scored across speed, accuracy, build quality, ease of cocking, value, and noise level โ then written up with both pros and cons.
Annual Re-Review
We revisit and update reviews to account for new model years, pricing changes, and long-term durability data.
Testing Equipment
Every crossbow is chronographed across multiple bolt weights, letting us quantify true bolt speed rather than describe it subjectively.
