Why Trust Crossbow Authority

You should not have to take a review site on faith. This page lists what we do to earn trust, and just as plainly, what we do not claim.

The short version

One named author, accountable for the work

Everything published here is written by Marisol Vega, Senior Outdoor Equipment Writer & Research Editor. There is no anonymous “editorial team” behind the byline. Her background, areas of expertise and full list of articles are on her author page, and the testing methodology explains how she works.

How claims are sourced

Specifications come from manufacturer documentation and product manuals and are labelled as manufacturer figures. Anything measured independently, such as chronograph speed, group size or cocking time, is reported separately, with the bolt weight and distance stated, so you can see where the two agree and where they do not. The full process is in the testing methodology.

Where a review draws mainly on published sources rather than our own range work, it says so. The editorial standards set out how that labelling works.

How the site earns money

Crossbow Authority is an Amazon Associates participant and may earn a commission when you buy through some links, at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links are marked sponsored. Scores and recommendations are set against published criteria, and placement is not for sale. The details are on the affiliate disclosure page.

What we do not claim

  • We are not a laboratory. Measurements come from a chronograph, groups at stated distances and hands-on cocking checks, not from certified test equipment.
  • We do not give legal advice. Crossbow laws vary and change, so verify current rules with the relevant government authority.
  • We do not claim to have tested every product on the site in the same depth, and we say when we have not.
  • We do not publish instructions intended to harm people or animals.

If we get something wrong

Email corrections@crossbowauthority.com with the page and the problem. Confirmed errors are fixed, and material corrections are noted on the article with the date. Ratings and conclusions are never changed quietly. More in the corrections policy in the editorial standards.
